Comparison

ClipItX vs Submagic: clipper or caption studio?

Submagic is a caption and one-click editing studio; ClipItX is a long-video clipper. They overlap on Magic Clips, Submagic's long-video add-on. Here's how they compare, and when Submagic is the better choice.

Written by the ClipItX team. It's our product, so we've linked every competitor fact to its source and listed where Submagic is the better pick.

The short answer

ClipItX Pick it if you…

  • start from long videos: podcasts, interviews, webinars, courses, sermons, streams
  • want clipping included in every plan, from $9/mo
  • want sources up to 3 hours on Pro (8 h on Enterprise)
  • want every clip ranked by virality on hook, flow, value and trend

Submagic Pick it if you…

  • mainly caption and polish short videos you've already cut
  • want one-click edits: remove bad takes and silences, B-roll, brand kit
  • need 4K 60 fps export (Business)
  • work in a team and pay per member

Bottom line: If your starting point is a long recording, ClipItX does the whole job on every plan. If you already have short videos and want the most polished captions and quick edits, Submagic is built for that, with Magic Clips available as an extra subscription.

Pricing: ClipItX vs Submagic

The two products start from different places. Submagic plans are sized in short videos per month (15, 40 or 100) with a per-video length cap of 2, 5 or 30 minutes; long-video clipping is the Magic Clips subscription on top. ClipItX plans are token allowances that cover clipping on every plan: 5 tokens per clip, the first 10 source minutes free, then 0.8 tokens a minute (×1.5 with Deep Watch).

So a 60-minute podcast cut into 10 clips is 110 ClipItX tokens; Pro ($19) covers about 11 a month. In Submagic, that hour-long source needs Magic Clips, whose price we couldn't confirm on the live pages.

How ClipItX tokens work: each clip up to 60 seconds costs 5 tokens (+2 for each extra 30 seconds, or 7 per clip with a transcript). The first 10 minutes of every source video are free. After that, each minute costs 0.8 tokens, ×1.5 with Deep Watch, which is on for every video up to 3 hours. Uploading the file instead of pasting a link takes 25% off the per-minute part. Example: a 60-minute podcast cut into 10 one-minute clips is 50 + 60 = 110 tokens; a 30-minute video with 8 clips is 64; a 10-minute video with 5 clips is 25. Clip counts above assume one-minute clips from videos up to 10 minutes; podcast counts assume that 110-token episode. Unused tokens don't roll over. Yearly prices are paid once for 12 months.

Finding the clips

Submagic finds clips in long videos through Magic Clips, a separate subscription. Its core plans caption and edit videos you've already cut.

ClipItX transcribes your video, then runs its proprietary clip AI: our own fine-tuned clip-selection model plus multimodal AI that watches and listens to every minute (Deep Watch, on for every video up to 3 hours). It finds hooks, punchlines and emotional peaks, then ranks every clip by virality (hook, flow, value, trend) so the strongest clips come first. On videos over 5 minutes you can choose Auto (up to 25 clips), or ask for a fixed number, and you can tell it what to look for.

Captions and one-click edits

Submagic is built around caption styling, with 35+ animated templates, plus one-click edits such as removing bad takes and silences, B-roll and a brand kit on Pro.

ClipItX includes 60 caption styles on every plan, including word-by-word highlights, and you can correct any word in the editor. Smart trim cuts dead air and filler, and Get to the point opens on the strongest line.

Where Submagic is the better choice

We'd rather you pick the right tool than churn in a month. Submagic is the stronger option if any of these matter most to you:

  • Caption polish. Captions are Submagic's core product.
  • One-click edits such as removing bad takes and silences, B-roll and a brand kit.
  • Export quality. 2K on Pro and 4K 60 fps on Business; ClipItX exports up to 1080p.
  • Teams. Per-member plans and a developer API with paid minute packs.
  • Bigger files. Uploads up to 3,000 MB, against ClipItX's 2 GB.

How to switch from Submagic to ClipItX

  1. Create a free ClipItX account. No card; 45 free tokens.
  2. Paste the long video you'd send to Magic Clips, or upload the file.
  3. Pick a caption style from 60 and fix any word in the editor.
  4. Keep Submagic for polish if you like its captions; many creators use a clipper and a caption tool together.
