ComparisonClipItX vs OpusClip: which AI clipper fits you?
OpusClip is the best-known AI clipping tool, and it's good. People usually compare it with ClipItX for one of three reasons: credits that are charged per source minute, a watermarked free plan, or wanting a lower monthly price. Here's how the two compare, including where OpusClip is the better pick.
The short answer
ClipItX Pick it if you…
- want a lower monthly price: Pro is $19/mo vs OpusClip's $29/mo per pack
- clip podcasts, interviews, webinars, courses or sermons: Pro covers about 11 hour-long episodes a month at 10 clips each
- want every clip ranked by virality on hook, flow, value and trend
- want faceless AI Shorts from the same plan and balance
OpusClip Pick it if you…
- need team seats, SSO or a full API (Business)
- hand clips to an editor as Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve projects
- clip sports, gaming or other non-speech footage (ClipAnything)
- want AI B-roll, dubbing, or 16:9 and 1:1 output on Pro
Bottom line: Both are full long-to-short clippers with virality scoring. ClipItX costs less on monthly billing and, at 10 clips per hour-long video, covers more source minutes per dollar on Pro. OpusClip has the deeper team, export and integration toolkit. On yearly billing the Pro plans cost about the same ($15 a month billed yearly, $180 for 12 months, vs $14.50), so your workload decides; the calculator below shows yours.

Pricing: ClipItX vs OpusClip
The two tools meter usage differently, and that difference decides which one is cheaper for you.
- OpusClip charges for what goes in. One credit is one minute of source video, however many clips come out. Posting to X costs 3 credits a post.
- ClipItX charges mostly for what comes out. Each clip up to 60 seconds costs 5 tokens. The first 10 minutes of every source video are free, then each minute costs 0.8 tokens, ×1.5 with Deep Watch (on for every video up to 3 hours).
So a 60-minute podcast cut into 10 one-minute clips costs 110 ClipItX tokens (50 for the clips, 60 for the source minutes) and 60 OpusClip credits. Tokens and credits aren't the same currency, which is why the calculator below compares dollars.

How ClipItX tokens work: each clip up to 60 seconds costs 5 tokens (+2 for each extra 30 seconds, or 7 per clip with a transcript). The first 10 minutes of every source video are free. After that, each minute costs 0.8 tokens, ×1.5 with Deep Watch, which is on for every video up to 3 hours. Uploading the file instead of pasting a link takes 25% off the per-minute part. Example: a 60-minute podcast cut into 10 one-minute clips is 50 + 60 = 110 tokens; a 30-minute video with 8 clips is 64; a 10-minute video with 5 clips is 25. Clip counts above assume one-minute clips from videos up to 10 minutes; podcast counts assume that 110-token episode. Unused tokens don't roll over. Yearly prices are paid once for 12 months.

Finding and ranking the clips
OpusClip gives every clip a virality score based on hook, flow, value and trend. Its ClipAnything model is multimodal, so it can clip gameplay, sports and footage with little speech.
ClipItX transcribes your video, then runs its proprietary clip AI: our own fine-tuned clip-selection model plus multimodal AI that watches and listens to every minute (Deep Watch, on for every video up to 3 hours). It finds hooks, punchlines and emotional peaks, then ranks every clip by virality (hook, flow, value, trend) so the strongest clips come first. On videos over 5 minutes you can choose Auto (up to 25 clips), or ask for a fixed number, and you can tell it what to look for.
For talking-led video (podcasts, interviews, webinars, courses, sermons), both find usable moments and both explain their ranking. If your source is mostly action with little speech, OpusClip's ClipAnything is the stronger tool today.
Reframing to vertical
OpusClip tracks speakers automatically and, on Pro, also outputs 1:1 and 16:9.
ClipItX reframes to 9:16. In the standard single-speaker layout, an auto-reframe locks onto whoever is speaking and cuts on the exact frame of a speaker switch. Face tracking is on Pro and up; Free and Starter use a centre crop. There are also facecam + screen and 2-speaker split layouts.
Publishing and scheduling
OpusClip includes a social media scheduler on Pro.
ClipItX exports 9:16 clips for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reels and X, and schedules and publishes to connected YouTube channels: post now or pick a time in the calendar, as public, unlisted or private. On Pro and up, Autopilot runs a clip agent that works through a queue of your videos on a cadence you set, then clips, captions and publishes to your connected YouTube channel.
Where OpusClip is the better choice
We'd rather you pick the right tool than churn in a month. OpusClip is the stronger option if any of these matter most to you:
- Non-speech footage. ClipAnything handles gaming, sports and B-roll-heavy video that transcript-led clipping can miss.
- Teams and integrations. Seats on Pro, SSO and a full API on Business, and project export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
- More output options. AI B-roll, video dubbing, and 1:1 and 16:9 as well as 9:16 on Pro.
- Bigger inputs. Source videos up to 10 hours and uploads up to 30 GB on Pro, against ClipItX's 2 GB upload limit.
- Very many clips per video. Credits are per source minute, so pulling dozens of clips from one long video costs no more than pulling five. ClipItX's Auto mode returns up to 25.
How to switch from OpusClip to ClipItX
- Create a free ClipItX account. There's no card, and you get 45 tokens, enough for a 10-minute video cut into 5 clips with tokens to spare.
- Re-run a video you've already clipped in OpusClip. Paste the same YouTube link or upload the same file, and choose Auto or a fixed number of clips.
- Compare the picks. ClipItX returns clips ranked by virality, strongest first. Pick a caption style and fix any word in the editor.
- Decide on real output, then cancel at the end of the billing period so you use the credits you've already paid for.
