Why turn long videos into Shorts
A long video has already done the hard part. You researched it, recorded it and found the words. Shorts let that work reach people who would never click on a 40-minute upload, and a Short that lands sends curious viewers to your channel, where the full version is waiting.
Start with your back catalogue
Older uploads are a good source. A video from last year has had its long-form views, but its strongest minute may never have been seen by a Shorts audience. Three checks before you post
- The first line. Read the opening caption with the sound off. If it needs context, try Get to the point, which opens on the strongest line.
- One idea per Short. If a clip wanders into a second topic, shorten it in the editor or pick a shorter clip length.

Do I need to download the YouTube video first?
No. Paste the link and ClipItX fetches it. If the video isn't on YouTube, upload the file instead: MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM up to 2 GB.
Can ClipItX post the Shorts to my channel?
Yes. Connect your YouTube channel once, then post a clip now or schedule it in the calendar as public, unlisted or private. TikTok and Instagram connect the same way. You can always download the MP4 and upload it yourself.
How long can the Shorts be?
With Made for YouTube Shorts selected, clips go up to 3 minutes. You can pick 5, 10, 30, 60 or 90 seconds, 2 or 3 minutes, or let Auto decide.
Will my Shorts have a watermark?
